The inauguration of Sringeri Vidya Bharathi
Foundation (SVBF) Canada took place on Sunday August 14, 2005 in Toronto, Canada.
Mr. Ravi Subramanian, a managing trustee of SVBF Canada, declared the function to
be a grand success. With over 400 people attending the inaugural event, he foresees
great promise for the community. Amidst the rhythmic chanting of Vedic hymns by
over eleven ritwiks, various elaborate rituals including the Laghu Rudram, were
conducted to usher in the birth of SVBF Canada – an overseas affiliate of Shri Sharada
Peetham, Sringeri, India. People surrendered their innermost wishes at the Lord’s
feet during the purnahuthi while the glowing blaze of the homa radiated a feeling
of His gracious acceptance and a deep sense of lasting peace among the devotees
who flocked in hundreds around the homa kundam. Shri V.R. Gowri Shankar, CEO and
Administrator of Shri Sharada Peetham, India presided over the event. With a solid
backing of the 1200 year old Sringeri Mutt and the grace of His Holiness, Sri Sri
Sri Bharati Teertha Mahaswamiji, he is confident that SVBF Canada can reinforce
the principles of Sanathana Dharma in people who left India in pursuit of wealth
and settled in the West. The new generation of youngsters will also benefit immensely
in understanding the fundamental principles inherent in our Dharma. Dr. S.
Yegnasubramanian, President, SVBF- USA, eloquently summarized the significance of
chanting in this day and age, with emphasis on the power and glory of chanting or
attentively listening to the Rudram. on, CANADA .
